HOMELAND Opening 6 April 2011

Homeland is the culmination of over a year’s exploration of memory, place and interrelated self imagining. It is based in the former homelands, areas defined by the apartheid government for the purposes of confining, defining and disempowering a people; and with subtlety and sensitivity, considers how people develop place related identities out of so notorious a past and the complex ways in which people develop nostalgia for histories that could be considered illegitimate. Sekgala engages concepts of home and how particularly young people, establish an understand of what it means to call a place home and concurrently think beyond it.

Fuji FinePix X100 First Impressions

So, as you will have spotted by now, last night I attended the South African launch of the Fuji 2011 lineup and there making its first appearance on our shores was a sample of the Fuji FinePix X100. Choosing to let the crowds go first I waited till near the end of the evening to get some solo time with the camera and thought I could share with you my first impressions of it. We hope to get to do a full review of it soon.

Fuji Launch Round Up

Last night I attended the South African launch of the Fuji 2011 line up. I wont go into many of the details of the cameras as we have covered them when they were announced worldwide earlier this year. What I would like to do is highlight the models that grabbed my attention and why.

FinePix XP30

This model is hailed by Fuji as the first waterproof camera with GPS and its about time. I would have thought manufactures would know that people buying this camera are more likely to want the GPS than the consumers for some of the other cameras that have had this feature.
