As the entries into our Care to Share competition – where you can win a Canon EOS 500D + 18-55mm IS – begin rolling in, we thought we could share one that had caught our eye. Hopefully it will get your creative writing juices flowing. Remember, the story needs to be under 150 words and can be a handy tip you’ve learnt, an inspiring story or – like Lara – a lesson learnt the hard way.
“Bring a Charger and a Spare”
My first wedding shoot was for friends, and I was helluva nervous. I double checked everything the night before and had it all ready, though I didn’t get much sleep. The day arrived and I made my way down to Port Alfred, and started to get comfortable shooting away. I got some great shots and was really happy! Until the dimly lit evening reception, when my battery started flashing at me. My charger? In my hotel room. With no other Canon users nearby and no car to drive back to the hotel and fetch it, I had no choice but to let the camera die and start capturing the cutting of the cake, the bouquet toss and the first dance with my cheap as chips Fujifilm point and shoot. Lesson learned – bring a charger and a spare.
