Welcome to 2012. I hope that you have all had a great start to the new year, even if it is only the second day of 2012. I just wanted to take the time to not only wish you all the best but to thank you for your support in 2011 and give some feedback on what happened in the past year. Of course 2011 was the first full year of the print edition of PhotoComment Magazine, however I want to share a little about the online progress we saw in 2011 in this particular post.
South Africa continues to have our largest reader base, not only in print but online as well. Over 35% of the visitors to PhotoComment in 2011 came from South Africa according to Google Analytics.
The total number visits made and unique visitors to the site more than tripled compared to 2010. Again, thank you for that.
It is incredible to see how many more of you are visiting the site from iPads and iPhones. Android and Blackberry also saw a fair increase of use on the site but not the same amount of growth as Apple. In fact, there were almost as many Mac users on the site in 2011 as there were Windows users in 2010. The actual percentage change in mobile use for 2010 vs 2011 is 487.47%. With this in mind there will be some changes over this year to make your mobile – and desktop – experience of the site better.
