Photojournalist denied Russian Visa

Even when there is supposed freedom of speech in the world, some countries will exercise the right to deny somebody entry if they feel they have been shown in a bad light.  Or so it seems for Dutch photojournalist Rob Honstra.

Honstra has collaborated with writer/filmaker Arnold Van Bruggen on a World Photo Award winning project that seeks to bring forth information about Sochi, the North Caucus region of Russia where the 2014 Winter Olympic Games are to be held.  It’s believed that the Russians are not too excited by the fact that the project sheds a rather negative light over them, and are thus denying the visa.  Due to this, Honstra will not be attending the jointly held Russian-Dutch exhibition where his work is due to be on display.
