Future Pentax Lenses on Preview at PMA 2008

The 2008 Pentax Lens Road Map is out along with an announcement that they will have three of the upcoming lenses at PMA this weekend for preview – though they may only hit the shelves towards the end of this year. It is great to see that two of these lenses are part of the professional (DA*) lens range, including a lovely 55mm f/1.4 SDM for portraiture.

When looking over the planned lenses in that road map however, I am left to think that Pentax’s dedication to DA lenses – which are designed for APS sized sensors- means that they have no plans for a full frame body any time soon. You may also note that all 645 lenses have been dropped from the map; does that mean the fate of a 645 digital is sealed? The press release follows.

You may know me better as 'Admin', as I work more behind the scenes to keep PhotoComment running smoothly, so here is a short history of how I got here. I started working in a camera store right out of high school having never picked up a camera before. I spent a few years working there and then moved to wholesale and then made a big change and went into the cycling industry for a few years, however I could not stay away and made the move back into the photography industry and have been working with PhotoComment since March 2008. It has become a passion and a labor of love to bring the best photographic content to you.
